Do you struggle with writer's block? I'm assuming most, if not all, of you will say 'yes'. Even if it's not right now, we've all experienced it at some point. So how can we combat it? We're all different, but here are the things I find useful:
1. Go for a long walk
A walk not only gets you out of the house and away from your devices, but it also helps to clear your mind.
2. Bounce ideas off others
It could be fell authors, friends, or even family members. The key, though, is finding someone who'll listen and won't drift off into their own world! You want to be able to tell them about your story and why you're stuck. It's amazing how getting someone else's input can make a huge difference.
3. Take a break from your story
This isn't always easy to do, especially if you have a deadline, but trust me, it works! Even if it's just a day or two. Sometimes stepping away from it and coming back later does wonders.
4. Go somewhere that inspires you
This could be the beach, a park, whatever works for you. Being at one with nature is much like going for a walk, it does wonders in helping to clear your mind.
And finally, please don't hate me for this...
5. Stop writing and go back to the beginning
This is worst the case scenario, and it hurts like hell, but if you're that blocked and the story isn't going anywhere, the best thing to do is STOP. It's possible you're trying to force it to go somewhere that the characters don't want it to go. So, stop and go back to the drawing board.
